As a follow-up to my recent posting, I thought it would be helpful to suggest looking at Joseph Saunders recent discussion about Taser’s products. Click here to review his posting about the Taser product line. In his blog posting, Joseph comments on a new twelve-gauge shotgun style product which apparently is under development.
The discussion about alleged defects in Taser products and other products is an important one. In my opinion, the debate over safety of the Taser product highlights the need for product liability litigation to ensure the continued safety of our products. Politicians who talk about litigation reform use these “litigation reform” code words to suggest that unsafe or untested products are acceptable in our stores. With new products and new technology under development all the time, the risk of litigation can be an effective deterrent to prevent the unsafe or untested from coming onto the market too soon.
