The southbound lanes of the Pa. Turnpike have been closed down today (November 5, 2010) due to an accident involving a can and a tractor with a ShopRite trailor. Photos show the van badly damaged and the tractor (jackknifed) turned 90 degress from the trailor, with the wheels of the tractor collapsed. The truck had struck the concrete barier. This caused the concrete to fall over into the oncoming lanes of traffic. Police, fire, and fire rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. The Van has been loaded on a flat bed to be removed form the scene.
Drivers are encouraged to take 663 to 309. 13 miles of the turnpike are now closed off, just south of Quakertown.
