Living with Brachial Plexus Palsy

Comments Off

Life can be difficult for a child living with brachial plexus or Erb’s Palsy. Children with Erb’s Palsy suffer from loss of use of the affected arm/hand as a result of the hospital staff using excessive force during delivery.

Birth injury symptoms often clear up in a few weeks. Not all children are as fortunate, however.

Children suffering with an Erb’s palsy may have a difficult time performing every day tasks including  tying shoes, which can be frustrating. Birth injury victims with physical abnormalities may have difficulty socializing with others for fear of ridicule.

Children should not be subject to a life of coping with injuries caused by medical negligence. It is unfair to burden a child because a doctor’s mistake.

Parents should not have to delay or not obtain Erb’s Palsy treatment out of financial fear. Compensation is available to birth injury victims. Parents raising a child with birth injuries are urged to contact a medical malpractice lawyer to find out if they are eligible to file a brachial plexus palsy lawsuit.
