Comments Off

A local Philadelphia resident a 79 year-old woman who retired after years of service with the US Embassy, has suffered serious injuries after the Megabus accident that occurred last month. She was seated on the first floor of the double decker bus that was headed from Philadelphia heading to Toronto, when it slammed into a railroad bridge in New York state. The 13-foot-high bus crashed into a railroad bridge at 2:30am in Salina, N.Y., located outside of Syracuse. The top deck ripped apart during impact, bringing the bus to collapse on its side, four were killed in the accident

"She filed her lawsuit against Megabus driver John Tomaszewski, who is a New Jersey local, and the two companies that owned and operated the bus," said Bernard Smalley, Esq., a shareholder at the law firm of Anapol Schwartz. Miriam Barish, Esq, who also filed the suit said, "it was filed in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and seeks more than $50,000 in damages."

Police officials said that the bus driver was not proven to be inebriated while driving; instead, he may have taken a wrong turn to an unfamiliar road. Police mentioned the bridge had multiple warning signs, some of which were flashing, but Tomaszewski claims he didn’t see them when following his GPS.
