Compensation for Vehicle Owners with Defective Takata Airbags

Comments Off

In October 2014, owners of vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recall filed a class action lawsuit against Takata Corporation claiming economic loss as a result of the defective airbags.

The owners claim the value of their vehicle depreciated due to the faulty airbags that could potentially explode and shoot shrapnel at drivers and passengers.

More than 11 million vehicles are affected by the Takata airbag recall including BMW, Chrysler, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Ford, Toyota and General Motors.

Consumer Affairs lists safety and residual value among the top three factors to consider when purchasing a car. Takata has possibly diminished those qualities by fitting vehicles with defective airbags.

Airbag defect lawyers are urging car owners affected by the Takata airbag recall to file a class action lawsuit to hold Takata responsible for the economic loss of their vehicles.

Drivers injured by shrapnel from an exploding airbag may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit.
